Quick Apple Crisp
I have a quick and easy recipe for apple crisp. Instead of mixing up several ingredients for the crisp, I use instant oatmeal cereal (like Quaker(tm), Kashi(tm), or the store brand).
Here’s my quick apple crisp recipe:
- 6-8 medium apples
- 3-4 packets of quick oatmeal cereal ( cinnamon or maple- brown sugar flavor)
- 1-2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup canola oil
Peel core and slice the apples, then put them in a 9×9 baking dish, lightly coated with cooking spray. Mix the oatmeal cereal with the canola oil in a small bowl, then spread it over the top of the apples. Bake at 325` for about 30-35 minutes.
I also use the same recipe to make a skillet apple crisp. Slice, peel, and core the apples, and put them in a skillet with the canola oil and cinnamon. Saute the apples until they’re soft. Stir in the oatmeal cereal, and saute a little longer to give the sugar in the cereal time to caramelize.
Both are a great way to use up all those apples sitting on your kitchen cabinet. The apple crisp also freezes well, if you want to make extra for a winter snack.
