Galaxy Foods’ Vegan Cheese
I confess that Vegan/soy cheese is a product that I would never have picked up in the grocery store. In fact, I only was semi-aware of its existence when Galaxy Foods suggested I review their products for this site. I’m so glad they contacted me or I would never have discovered this tasty (yes, tasty!) and healthy alternative to dairy.
Galaxy Foods Vegan slices are 100 percent dairy and casein free as well as trans-fat free and gluten free. They come in slices, chunks, and as a grated parmesan-flavored topping. I put them to the test. I served the sliced with crackers (whole wheat, of course) to friends, used slices atop grilled turkey burgers, and even melted a slice over steamed brocolli. The taste was very like a mild, processed American cheese and the product melted almost as well as traditional cheese slices. All this and just 35 calories per slice.
Galaxy products are available at natural food stores, including Whole Foods Market. The suggested retail price for the eight-slice package is $3.49.
