Book Review: Summer on a Plate

Just in time for easy summer meals and outdoor entertaining, Hamptons caterer, Anna Pump has written “Summer on a Plate,” a lovely cookbook filled with simple recipes that use local, seasonal ingredients (our favorite kind of food here at “Robust Cooking”). In addition, she shares her expertise on creating safe and easy “beach-ready” foods that travel easily and are best served at room temperature. There are also plenty of grilling ideas.
The more than 120 recipes include “Edamame Hummus with Garlic, Lemon, and Cilantro”; “Warm Tuna Sandwich with Ginger-Lemon Sauce” (it’s kind of like a tuna burger using fresh, not canned tuna); and “Asparagus Salad with Roasted Peppers and Goat Cheese” (a great medley of flavors).
“Summer on a Plate” is a celebration of summer and summer foods. It would make a great gift for a summer birthday girl or recent graduate.
