Berry Fond Fourth of July Memories
This month the Lifestyle’s Network is reflecting on their 4th of July memories, so I thought I’d reflect on my favorite Independence Day food.
When I think of food at the 4th of July I think of the infamous flag cake, with it’s blueberry stars, and a strawberry stripe. The 4th of July is right in the middle of berry season, so it’s the perfect tribute.
The strawberry season is just finishing up, and the blueberries and raspberries are just starting to get ripe. I have fond summer memories of picking berries around the 4th of July.
To make a light version of the 4th of July cake, use an angel food cake mix, and a light whipped frosting. Or skip the cake all together and just have the berries!
