A Couple Healthy Eating Tips
Today I’m running way behind, so I have a couple quick healthy eating tips for you.
- If you like soda, but you’re trying to break the habit, try club soda and fruit juice concentrate. Use 100% fruit juice. It’s not perfect but it’s a step in the right direction. Fruit juice and club soda is much better than the caffeine, high fructose corn syrup, or artificial sweeteners found in regular sodas.
- Add fruits and vegetables to everything. I add tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, peppers, grilled eggplant, and onion to sandwiches, as many different vegetables as I can to my salad, and when I make pizza it’s a deluxe veggie version. Before you know it you will have met your daily requirement for fruits and vegetables.
- Even if no one sees you eat it, the calories still count. One of the hardest things for me is being home alone during the day. My mind tries to tell me if I eat one little bite of this or that, no one will know. But I will know, and my hips will know.
- Chew your food slowly, and give it your full attention. This is a tough one for me, I’m always trying to do three things at once. I have to make myself sit down at the table to eat, otherwise I’m snacking my way through the house, and when I’m done I haven’t tasted any of it.
- Avoid white flour and refined sugar whenever possible. There’s nothing good in either of them if you’re trying to maintain a healthy eating plan.
- Cook your own meals from scratch, then you know exactly what you’re putting into your body.
My eating habits aren’t perfect, but every day I try to do what I can to maintain healthy eating habits.
If you have any healthy eating tips you’d like to share, feel free to add them.
